What is mistletoe therapy?
Mistletoe therapy is part of an extended
and integrative approach to cancer care. It is based on the
prescribed use of Mistletoe extracts by qualified doctors.
Mistletoe used therapeutically is extracted from the European
mistletoe, Viscum album (above), and prepared under strict
pharmaceutical conditions.
Mistletoe therapy:
- integrates with conventional cancer treatments
- can be used for a wide range of cancers
- may be started at any stage of the illness.
Mistletoe therapy can be given in a variety of ways:
- injection under the skin (subcutaneous)
- infusion through a drip (intravenous)
- injection into the tumour (intratumour)
- orally (by mouth)
Used in cancer treatment for over 90 years, it has been widely
researched and is subject to ongoing development.
Mistletoe therapy is one of the most frequently prescribed
complementary treatments for cancer in Central Europe. There it is
available in GP practices, specialist cancer centres and
hospitals.
